Local Area

Our local town of Greenfield, Indiana is home to more than 15,000 residents.  As the county seat of Hancock County, Greenfield has a long history and a wide variety of businesses.  Greenfield was founded in the early 1800’s at the crossroads of the National Road US 40 and Indiana State Road 9.  What was once a sleepy rural village became a boomtown of manufacturing when natural gas was discovered in the late 1800’s.  Our fine stone courthouse as well as most of the downtown “Main Street” area dates from that era.  In the 1970’s, Interstate 70 was built just north of  town  and ushered in a whole new era of growth and development along Indiana 9 (State Street) between the courthouse and the I-70 exit.   Our hotel is located in the area of new development on State Street, just 100 yds south of the I-70 exit. Here’s a list of some of the major restaurants and businesses in the area.
